UIN Banten Postgraduate Delegation Seals Global Academic Synergy With International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)

HumasUIN – UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten took a major step toward its global vision as its Postgraduate Leadership and Student Delegation concluded a strategic working visit to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This visit officially opened a new chapter of promising academic and research synergy between the two institutions.

The UIN Banten delegation was warmly received, underscoring the strong commitment from the Malaysian side.

The UIN team was hosted by prominent IIUM officials, including:

• Dr. Anas Shamsuddin (Director of the Office of International Affairs – OIA)

• Prof. Dr. Sonny Zulhuda (Deputy Legal Advicer)

• Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fadzil Bin Ismail (Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering)

• Prof. Dr. Noor Amali Bin Mohd Daud (Deputy Dean Academic and Internationalization)

Commitment to Collaboration: From Research to Staff Exchange

The cordial formal meeting successfully identified several collaborative programs ready for acceleration. IIUM presented various flagship initiatives that could form joint programs, including:

• Global Capacity Building: Organizing international Webinars and Joint Conferences.

• Academic Mobility: Intensive Student and Staff Exchange programs.

• Research Innovation: Conducting Joint Research leading to reputable publications.

“We agreed that these cooperation programs will be pushed to be implemented every semester and cover all levels, from Undergraduate (S1/Bachelor’s), Master’s (S2), to Doctoral (S3),” stated Dr. Anas Shamsuddin, Director of IIUM’s OIA.

Accelerating Implementation

Prof. Wasehuddin, Director of the Postgraduate at UIN Banten, expressed deep appreciation for IIUM’s warm reception and seriousness.

“We are very grateful for this welcome. We hope that the discussed collaborations,especially those that offer significant benefits for the development of knowledge and the quality improvement of Human Resources in both institutions, can be realized immediately,” asserted Prof. Wasehuddin.

Dr. Anas Shamsuddin further clarified that the legal framework for the cooperation, covering both the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) and MoA (Memorandum of Agreement), will be finalized and signed at the Rector level, ensuring a strong legal foundation for the agreed-upon programs.

 

The event continued with an interactive Q&A session with the UIN Banten postgraduate students. The visit concluded with a brief tour, where Dr. Anas Shamsuddin invited the delegation to explore the fascinating IIUM gallery, providing additional insight into the university’s history and achievements.

This visit marks an ambitious and strategic move by the UIN Banten Postgraduate School to expand its international network and enhance academic competitiveness on the global stage.
